I would say 95% of the wood I use in my turning is free from trees that have been cut down because of disease or have fallen down in bad weather

I found a Walnut tree (with my cousin Tony's help) and used a chainsaw to cut it into these slabs.  they are about 12-15 inches across.

This is a small portion of a Silver Maple tree from the Ohio University campus that I was given.  The whole piece I got  weighed about 750 pounds when I got it.

This is the remaining stump of an English Oak tree from the Truman State University campus. I got a nice chunk of this 200 year old tree.

After I slabbed up the Walnut blanks, I used my cousin's bandsaw to cut out circles to make the UFO trophies.  The remaining pieces were cool.
